Dr. Stuff MBS, PDT

August 26, 2011

I wish I knew more stuff. They should teach a class about stuff. Stuff 101 it would be called and you would learn about everything, from movies to quotes to the Delhi metro. To teach such a class would be a position of great honor. Should you find yourself at a dinner party and should you happen to find yourself declaiming in sonorous tones your doctorate in stuff, then no sooner had you finished the limelight would be wrenched away from the hands of such pitiful braggarts as Stephen Hawking and the president of the United States of America for you would be the man with the magic; he who knows all and even the most obscure of references would not escape your masterful grasp. And noone would even care that you were bragging. It would be awesome.

I know I love to learn new stuff, random facts etc. although Papa knows more stuff than anyone I know. Did you know there are only 9 people for every square mile in South Dakota???? After driving through that state recently, I am surprised there are that many.

I’d sign up for that class any day. It would be great training for the outside world because even if one were really a numbskull in there, you could carry all the gyaan to the outside world and start spouting it like a fountain! That wouldn’t be as awesome as teaching such a class, but it would still be awesome. And the man with the magic would know your first name! Which is also cool.

Gosh, I think they already have that class; it’s called GK! Hmm, maybe you’d want to call it “really interesting stuff.” Or even “cool stuff.” But maybe that would defeat the purpose…

Saleem, I think you are on to something big. “Stuff” is something many of us have in common across continents, religions, cultures, political beliefs…and finding, recognizing what we have in common when we meet someone new to us is usually about finding the “stuff” that interests us that we share beyond borders, politics, etc. I think the whole world would benefit from a “Stuff 101” course. Go for it!

No, no, no. Stuff is much different from GK. Stuff is useful, GK is most definitely not.

Stuff 101! I love that..Maybe Humboldt could have an elective about stuff that you teach for our middle school students. You know not a graded structure type of class but a class one day during the week when students get together to discuss stuff.

    Yeah that sounds like fun.
